Each day in the run-up to the finals, we’re doing two tracks from the 2015 Eurovision Song Competition and
tearing them to shreds analysing them carefully in a bid to predict the winner on May 23rd.
CYPRUS: John Karayiannis – “One Thing I Should Have Done”
MOSH – Solo artist, acoustic guitar, all very ballad-ish. ARGH, I want to tear this song a new one but it’s annoyingly not that bad. I’m not sure which part of Cyprus John is from so to avoid annoying anyone in particular by ignoring them, the Greek and Turkish parts can have two marks each. 4/5
DAVE – I swear I can hear Mr Big’s “To be with you” in this song. This one is going to have the lighters in the air on the night. Well, by lighters I mean mobile phones because that’s what people do now isn’t it? 2/5
CZECH REPUBLIC: Marta Jandová & Václav Noid Bárta – “Hope Never Dies”
MOSH – If James Bond themes were done by two people, one of whom is a guy who gargles caustic soda while trying to impersonate Brent Smith from Shinedown, this is what it would sound like. 3/5
DAVE – Yer man that sings for Nickelback, Chad Kroeger…he’s on this one. Pretty sure that’s not his other half with him though. There’s a bit of the Bond theme to this one, and I do like a good Bond theme. 3/5
