As ever, we’re going to try and cover every single Jäger, New Blood and SOPHIE stage band before Bloodstock kicks off on August 9th. Your chance to check them out and start planning which bands to get there early for!
Trust us when we tell you that this is bound to result in some frustrating clashes because, as ever, there are some great bands on these three stages.
Our thanks to all the bands for taking the time out to answer our questions!
Dawn of Anubis – Jägermeister Stage, Sunday
Simple things first – where are you guys from?
We are from a town called Coalville in Leicester.
How long have you been playing together as a band?
The current line up has been playing now coming up to a year, however four of us have been in a covers band for 4 years previous to this.
Where does the name of the band come from?
The name of the band comes from the lead singer’s interest in ancient Egypt.
Describe your music. What makes you unique?
Our music is a blend of multiple sub-genres of metal, we are not defined by one genre and we will play what we feel is right for certain songs.
What’s your live show like? Why are people going to watch you instead of another band?
Our live show is a collection of five years heavy gigging experience. We are quite a young band, all of us being 20, and we’ve spent a quarter of our lives out on the road. We try and put all that experience and professionalism across on stage.
Have you been to Bloodstock before? What did you think?
None of us have ever been to Bloodstock as we are relatively new to the metal scene but can certainly say we are all looking forward to it.
When/how did you find out you’d been selected to play at Bloodstock?
We found out after making it to the finals of Metal 2 the Masses Leicester, and as runners up we’re asked to come and play on the Jäger stage!
What sort of setlist can we expect?
Our set list is a mixture of heavy vocals and music and clean vocals with three part harmonies.
Which other band do you most hope you’re not clashing with so you can see them play?
We all were really blown away the first time we watched Mortishead so we’d love to catch those guys again!
What are you working on at the moment?
We are currently writing a lot with hopes of an album coming along.
What’s the wildest thing you’ve seen or done at a live show?
We are not really a wild band, we are quite boring people off stage so we tend to let the other acts do the whole wild thing!
Jäger, Hobgoblin Ale, Red Bull, Kingstone Press Cider, Kaltenberg Beer or Bulleit Bourbon? And, yes, we’ll be counting all the votes!
We will say Jäger as that’s the stage you can catch us at this year!
