Always aiming to put the smaller / less well known bands front and centre, welcome to our series featuring acts on the New Forces stage at this year’s Metal Days festival in Slovenia, as well as a couple of bands who are being featured for a second time having trodden the boards of that stage in earlier years. We’ll be there with them and hopefully will catch as many of them live as possible so we can tell you how good they are! Tickets for the five-day (plus warmup!) event are still available for around £135. It takes place in Tolmin, Slovenia, from July 21st to 28th.
What is your band’s name and where are you from?
We come from , and our band’s name “Malemort” is not typically Californian!
When did you first find out about Metal Days?
In recent years, the secret of the Slovenian mountains is no longer very well kept! Many French metalheads go on vacation to MetalDays to enjoy its river, its storms and… its poster of course!
How did you end up on the bill for this year’s festival?
Our drummer is part of the aficionados of the festival. It had to happen! He ended up getting to return without paying for his ticket!
Is this the furthest you’ll ever have played from home and/or the biggest gig you’ve ever played? If so, what was the furthest/biggest before now?
We will never have been so far from . We have already played in some festivals, but by the time you read these lines, we will have played on the main stage of Hellfest, whose reputation is second to none! Two metalhead dreams in one summer!
Which bands on the bill are you most looking forward to seeing?
My drummer (still him) and one of the guitarists belonging to a group tribute to Accept, we will go see the original! We will have already seen Judas Priest at Hellfest, but no way will we miss them. I will also mention Igorr, Leprous for the young guard, Tremonti and Obituary for the sure values. Diamond Head for the legendary… Without forgetting our compatriots of Heart Attack and Asylum Pyre.
Other than bands, what are you most looking forward to about Metal Days?
Beautiful walks, sunburns and friendship!
Before you hit the stage: Monster energy drink or Laško beer?
The question does not even place itself! No chemical drunk, only beer, of course!
