Great Songs That Have Become Stadium Anthems

Attending a sporting event in person is a great experience. The crowd coming together to cheer on their team creates an electric atmosphere that can’t be recreated anywhere else. Today, sporting events are a treat for all senses, with flashing lights, sound effects, and even delicious aromas and tastes from the traditional sporting snacks that are sold throughout.

In more recent years, fans have been able to add to the experience a little more by placing bets on games while they’re in the stadium and even during the game itself. Online bookmakers like Smartkets make it quick and easy to wager from a smartphone, while also offering free bets to new customers. Something that adds that extra layer of excitement to an already thrilling experience.

Another treat for the senses during a sporting event is the music. In the last 50 years or so, musicians have produced some of the most iconic tracks ever made. We’ve been rocking along in stadiums to Smells Like Teen Spirit, You Shook Me All Night Long, and More Than a Feeling for decades.

Other times, teams have a particular track they associate with themselves. For example, Liverpool has You’ll Never Walk Alone by Gerry and the Pacemakers, while their local rivals Everton use the theme from Z Cars.

Here are some other great tracks that have become stadium anthems.

Darude — Sandstorm

The track by the Finnish music producer Darude was first released in 2000. This instrumental dance track will be sure to get your adrenaline pumping. It’s played at sporting events throughout the UK and elsewhere in the world, including the US.

In Texas, Kyle Field, which is used for Texas A&M University’s football games had to have reinforcements made to its structure in 2015 as Sandstorm’s unique and intense frequencies were causing the stadium to vibrate and move about.

Zombie Nation — Kernkraft

Confusingly, the song Kernkraft contains the lyrics “Zombie. Zombie. Zombie. Zombie nation.”, leading many to assume that was the name of the song. In fact, Zombie Nation is a name adopted by Florian Senfter, a German DJ.

Released at a similar time to Sandstorm, it’s guaranteed to get your heart racing and ready for the exciting drama that’s about to take place on the pitch.

Guns N’ Roses — Welcome to the Jungle

Released back in 1987, Welcome to the Jungle has been a popular track at stadiums the world over. The distinctive guitar rifts will have the crowd on their feet in seconds. It can be quite an intimidating song for an opposing team to hear while getting ready in the changing rooms with lyrics like “welcome to the jungle, we’ve got fun and games” and “uh, I, I wanna watch you bleed”.

The White Stripes — Seven Nation Army

Another track with a unique rift, Seven Nation Army will have any crowd humming along from start to finish. Like Welcome to the Jungle, Seven Nation Army has some pretty intimidating lyrics that are sure to put any opponent on the back foot.

The German football club Bayern Munich is one of many teams to have used Seven Nation Army to celebrate each goal they scored at their home stadium, however, the team recently changed it to the Can-can. It’s quite the change, but still oddly intimidating.

The song was also used during the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

DJ Khaled ft. T-Pain, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, and Rick Ross — All I Do is Win

It might be a bit of an obvious choice for teams to pick, but All I Do is Win is a great track to play at a stadium thanks to lyrics like “All I do is win, win, win no matter what” and “…every time I step up in the building, everybody hands go up”: exactly what you want your ers to do.

The triple-platinum song has been used by many big-name US sports teams, including the New York Knicks, the Denver Nuggets, Nashville Predators, and Miami Hurricanes. And with its catchy tune and uplifting lyrics, it’s easy to see why.
