With the release of Black Star Riders’ third studio effort; Heavy Fire earlier this year, securing #6 in the UK and #11 in the German album charts, they will stride ever forward with Chad Szeliga taking up the sticks.
The group first met Chad whilst touring Thin Lizzy through North America with Judas Priest and Black Label Society. Chad, at the time played with Black Label Society. When auditions took place earlier this month in Los Angeles, Chad was chosen to take up the stool position for Black Star Riders.
For the sceptics among you who think former sticksman Jimmy DeGrasso can’t be replaced, check out the video the band released of Chad playing earlier today on their Facebook page. It’s pretty darn good if I may add my humble opinion.
Ricky Warwick came out saying:
I’m delighted to welcome Chad Szeliga to the Black Star Riders family. Chad is an amazing drummer, a great guy and will powerfully strengthen BSR’s resolve going forward.
Scott Gorham adds:
I’m really looking forward to getting up onto the stage with our new drummer Chad. This guy is one killer player. See you all on tour!
On his initiation to the group, Chad states:
First, I’m so stoked for one to play with Scott Gorham, an iconic guitar player! Second, I can’t wait to play with Damon who is a bad ass on guitar. Lastly, I can’t wait to jam with Robbie on bass and we all know who the star is… Ricky who can command a fantastic show and is an amazing front man. Let’s light them up boys!
Chad formerly played with Breaking Benjamin, Black Label Society and many others. He will hit the road with the group later this month through Europe till their final date and only UK show at this years Ramblin’ Man Festival at Maidstone, Kent.
