Tons Of Rock 2025 – further bands announced

The Tons of Rock 2025 festival poster is ready and the massive lineup is spiced up with grunge icons, sing-along favourites, heavy, fast, groovy, and grandiose acts. The interest from the audience is explosive, tickets available are running low and the loyal fans have announced their arrival to take part of the festival with their new and old favourites.

Rock’s journey over the past five decades has been marked by genre expansion and iconic artists. In the 1970s, punk rock paved the way with Sex Pistols and The Damned, while the 1980s saw thrash metal dominate with bands like Metallica and Megadeth. The 90s became the era of grunge, led by Alice in Chains, alongside the rise of European black metal with bands such as Emperor and Dimmu Borgir. In the 2000s, alternative rock and pop-punk flourished with Green Day and Muse at the forefront, while the 2010s were defined by indie and genre-blending, with new headliners like Avenged Sevenfold.

Over these decades, rock has constantly reinvented itself—from rebellious punk to grand experimentation—producing fresh stars like Electric Callboy and Lorna Shore. But unlike other areas of pop culture, rock fans stick with their bands for life—much like their favourite football team.

The Recipe for Success

“The recipe for Tons of Rock lies precisely in creating spaces for the fans. Building arenas where fans meet fans, and artists connect with the community. We’ve created a festival that legendary acts want to visit, and we’re growing alongside our audience in the boundless universe of rock.
Today’s announcement is undeniable proof of this, and we’re both proud and humbled to present a 2025 lineup that our audience loves and buys tickets for” says Tons of Rock general Jarle Kvåle.

A Broad Spectrum of Rock

Today’s additions showcase the wide breadth of the rock universe.

With grunge legend Jerry Cantrell from Alice in Chains and punk icons The Damned, the lineup also features festival favorites like Steel Panther, Myles Kennedy, Carcass, Ugly Kid Joe, Finntroll and Belphegor. Stoner rock takes the stage with The Sword, while tattoo artist star Kat Von D s the lineup. Norway’s Slomosa demonstrates that the rock scene at home continues to thrive. Expect ferocity from Fit for an Autopsy and proof that hard work pays off with Norway’s The Cruel Intentions.

Rock and metal are stronger than ever in Norway. This week, Tons of Rock expanded with a new stage, The Storm, to shine a spotlight on the underground scene.

The big picture — the strength of new talent and the fact that last year’s historic Metallica concert is now history — comes full circle when James Hetfield’s son brings his promising band, Bastardane, to Tons of Rock at Ekeberg in June 2025.

Tons of Rock is Norway’s largest festival located in the city centre of Norway’s capitol Oslo. In 2024 the sold-out festival had over 150 000 visitors from 80 countries. Now the festival revealed most of the artists for 2025 and tickets are on sale now.
