Friday Video Roundup: HammerFall, RavenEye, Attila, Every Time I Die

See, the thing with holidays when you’re a teacher is that you often end up busier than you are during the working week… hence the late posting of today’s quartet!

RavenEye – “Madeline”

UK rock trio RavenEye have unleashed a new video for the song “Madeline”. Described by Classic Rock as “modern blues rock with healthy shots of Royal Blood and Muse” it’s the third track they’ve made available from their debut album Nova which was released today. We reviewed it recently and you can order it on Amazon and help this site: [amazon text=digital &asin=B01I4FMOV0] / [amazon text=CD&asin=B01HSFG77O] / [amazon text=vinyl&asin=B01IJ4XG9A]

Singer/guitarist Oli Brown said:

The song is about love in the darkest of places. The arguments you have with the one you love can be the worst, the heat of that fight where you say the worst possible things you can imagine to each other. Our friend Greta Valenti put this story board to us and we fell in love with it. It ties into the relationship with the song, the relationship we have with love, what we do for it, what we sacrifice for it.

Attila – “Ignite”

Last week, Attila issued a ” Public Apology” – the first song released from their new album Chaos. Today, the band follow up with another new track, “Ignite”. Frontman Fronz comments on how Chaos makes a return to Attila’s roots:

We sat down in a room together and asked, ‘What did we do when we wrote the first few albums that we don’t do anymore?’ We realised the thing we’d stopped doing was getting together and jamming in a basement. It’s so easy for bands to sit around a computer and create music. It’s too easy to forget to jam the songs in person, on real instruments.

Everything about Chaos is real, because we all met up in Georgia, right near the basement where we used to meet up when we were living off Taco Bell.

Every Time I Die – “It Re”

The powerful new album from Buffalo-based hardcore band Every Time I Die, Low Teens, is out today. On their eighth full-length effort, vocalist Keith Buckley, guitarists Andy Williams and Jordan Buckley, drummer Daniel Davison, and bassist Steve Micciche deliver their most poignant and imioned work yet. You can order it on Amazon and this site: [amazon text=&asin=B01H3YD5FW] / [amazon text= (deluxe)&asin=B01H3YDWA0] / [amazon text=CD&asin=B01J7DNSIQ] / [amazon text=CD (deluxe)&asin=B01HQWP0BI] / [amazon text=vinyl&asin=B01HQWP2WU]

Recorded with producer/engineer Will Putney (Acacia Strain, Body Count, Exhumed), Low Teens was largely shaped by a harrowing experience that took place last December. While on tour in Toronto, Buckley got a call that his wife had been sent to the hospital with a life-threatening pregnancy complication, and immediately raced home to be by her side.

“I was facing death, not in a symbolic sort of ‘cyclical change’ metaphor, but literally,” Buckley recalls. Although both wife and daughter survived the ordeal, the moment of crisis had a lasting impact and played a major role in the making of Low Teens. “It was abject helplessness, and that entirely new feeling opened up a lot of questions about place and purpose,” Buckley says of writing for the intensely emotional album.
