Another little collection of the new visual treats which popped into our mailbox today…
Standing Like Statues
Cambridge alt-rockers Standing Like Statues have released a video for “Stupid Love”, taken from their 2020 sophomore EP, Reality Checkpoint. The band comment on the new single:
Love is beautiful, but it can also be painful. This is the ultimate ‘keeping it together’ anthem. It was written following the end of a near decade-long relationship, about dealing with the mixed emotions that come from all angles. It’s about fighting through the worst of it and realising that the end of one thing can be the beginning of something else.

“Press Gang” is inspired by Charlie’s grandfather’s life’s work as a photojournalist and war correspondent on Fleet Street from the 1950s to the early 1980s. The song is about the shifting role in the dissemination of information and ideas, and how the prevailing narrative that the “Death of Print Media” has contributed to a “post-truth” world.

Kerri Watt
In anticipation of her long-awaited debut studio album Neptune’s Daughter (releasing January 15th 2021), Glaswegian singer-songwriter Kerri Watt unveils the video for “Band Of Gold”.
A light-hearted country-pop number with an earworm chorus, the video for “Band of Gold” provides a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the Neptune’s Daughter recording sessions, showcasing the absolute joy of working with some of the best musicians in America, including Allen Golden Jr, Jonas Wilson, Julian Garguilo, and Zach Landreneau. The song was also a joy to write for the in-demand songwriter:
“Band of Gold” was one of those songs that basically wrote itself. It just kind of flowed out of me in about 30 minutes and I knew it was gonna be a goodie!
Slope
Everyone has his own Funkey Monkey sitting on his back. “Purple Me” will expose him and you can decide if he takes over. “Purple Me” has everything Slope has got to give, raging hardcore riffs, funky bass solos and a one of a kind Vocal mix assembled in a slapping production that turns every live set into complete chaos.
The song “Purple Me” is taken from Slope’s album Street Heat, out on March 12th, 2021.
