Album Review: Casket Robbery – Rituals Of Death

Dream warriors beware! Casket Robbery are back with their latest unrelenting nightmare, second studio album Rituals Of Death.

The blistering opening to this new offering is “Worm Food” and it’s certainly one of the most intense starts to an album I’ve heard in while. This is followed by the heavy chugging basslines and savage vocals that make up “Don’t Forget The Eyes” which has lyrical content straight out of a horror film.

The bludgeoning continues on into “Death’s Dance” and the short, swift “Post-Mortem” which is much slower and purposeful but still at the same time makes your spine freeze. Highlight track of the album for me right there.

The pairing of “Beautiful Death” and “Bone Mother” complement each other really well, and the latter track has some really great guitar parts. The type that when you hear them you don’t realise you’re making faces over them until someone points it out.

Creepiness engulfs the majority of “The Hidden The Hideous” and occult vibes take over in “Old Ones, a track I discovered to not be the best choice walking home on a very dark and foggy night.

“Reanimate” serves as a palette cleanser before the final track gets ready for one more serving of obliteration – very much finishing the album how it started, blood drenched and hungry.

A snarling, savage dose of horror-infused death metal.
