Wolf/Enforcer/Dynamite- Audio, Glasgow 11th October 2015

It’s not often that I struggle to pick faults in gigs. Nine times out of ten, the complaint is that the sound was, quoting a certain Glaswegian, “Shite mate!” . That’s hardly ever the case with Audio, I’ve never had a bad gig in there. The same goes for every time I’ve seen Wolf. They’ve always been absolutely amazing. This gig was no exception to either of those facts. It was also my first time seeing Enforcer and Dynamite, two bands I wasn’t very familiar with. This gig also proved to be special for a friend of mine, as it was his first ever metal concert.

Opening up the evening was Swedish rockers Dynamite. Opening with “Blackout Station”, the title track from their latest album, the band immediately showed everyone what they were about with their infectious grooving riffs and the pitch perfect vocals of Mattis. Having an impeccable sound throughout their entire set worked to their favour as it resulted in multiple of audience nodding along with some singing along in parts. Playing a set compromised of songs from their two releases, they delivered a superb set and surely won some new fans. They certainly gained one with me! (9/10)

Next up on the stage was Swedish ‘total metallers’ Enforcer. Having spoken to Olaf (Vocals) before the show (Online soon!), he mentioned that the setlist would be quite varied and have songs from each of their albums on. Whether that was true or not, I can’t comment but the crowd didn’t seem to care as they raged on like no tomorrow. Playing their unique style of metal with shrieking guitar solos, thundering bass and drums along with Olaf’s vocals sent the crowd into a frenzy with nigh on the whole venue either nodding, head-banging or ‘raging’ to the music. The band played off this energy by giving an outstanding performance and saying that they had an awesome time to a few folk afterwards. (8/10)

After a very speedy changeover and a quick chat to Mark (Audio) and Joe (Black Reach), it was time for the headliners of the night to descend upon the stage. Having spoken to Simon (Guitars) before the show, he mentioned that the setlist would be compromised of at least one song from every album and the rest would be a mixture of fan favourites and ones that don’t get played often. This of course caused the crowd to be suitably rowdy and resulted in a few interesting crowd surfer attempts, some of which were actually quite successful. Unfortunately, Niklas wasn’t feeling 100% so couldn’t nail all of the high notes, but that didn’t stop him giving 110% along with the rest of band in creating an awesome and hugely enjoyable set. (10/10)

After the gig, when I was speaking to Niklas he said the following: “Although we only played here a few months ago, we wanted to come back here as we always have a good time. The crowds are always awesome and if we could play here every night then we would.” If that’s not high praise for the crowd, then I don’t know what is.
